I'm really enjoying your lessons - I'm a total beginner, although I did pick up a 'teach-yourself' Russian book.. which was useless. You're a great teacher, you're really clear and it's great to hear the dialogue (especially from a native speaker).
I'm glad you and your family are okay - I hope your life is settling back to some resemblance of normal now. I'm in London and we've not had it great here, either.

Hello there. I must commend you on your website and podcast as it looks and sounds very professional. Is this just a hobby or were do you plan to go? I speak a little russian knowing someone who is russian and studying one in college. Hope things are going good for you.

Thank you Natalia for your site, I am trying to learn russian and have been through several books , cassettes, and interactive CDROMs. I picked up a reasonable vocabulary but need help in my sentence structure, can you reccomend any simple books. I don't mind if they are children books. I need to put all the words I learned together in a proper way.
I want to thank y ou for a great podcast. I have been trying to pick up a bit of Russian , since I work with a group.
The only thing I find difficult is prononciation. For example when I wrote Prevyit to one person, they corrected with Previt as the english spelling. Is it phonetics?

David, there are more than one way of spelling a Russian word in 'English' letters. It depends on how one HEARS the word pronounced. The goal for you should be to learn to spell the Russian words in Russian;) I guess the closest would be 'Pree-vet' for you and your friend. Thanks for the question.

Yes, this is a comment 3 years after the post, but I've only discovered this lovely blog which accompanies nicely my efforts with a teach yourself book.
Now I have one question about this lesson. Emily sounds like she's saying "и вы ?" but the written text is "А у вас?"
Am I off course or what ?

Hello! I would just like to thank you for your lessons, I've just started listening to your podcasts and they are amazingly clear and helpful. I'm Irish, but spoke Russian as a child to my babysitters. Now, I have forgotten everything and wanted to learn it again as a hobby. Hi, I realize I am many years late on this but I have the same question as sylvestre. I see it written to ask "and you?" as "a y bac?" but I heard "a BbI?" Which is best? Or are both equally acceptable?

NDrea, both are acceptable.
In fact most people just say 'А как ты? а как вы?
